ORQUESTA CRESCENDO from Madrid, under the baton of their conductor Raul Sanchez, comes to Dublin for the second time to share a concert with St Agnes Parents String Orchestra. The link with Madrid was formed by a former member of the Crumlin  orchestra, whose family relocated to Madrid for work purposes. Since then Dee McDonnell has kept in constant contact with progress in St Agnes (now Scoil Una Naofa) Violin and Orchestra Project and has inspired her Spanish Orchestra to make two trips to Ireland.

The Spanish players are staying with some Irish host families and some have selected hotels. They visited Glendalough on Saturday 20th May before a lengthy combined rehearsal programme. The Dublin players are the hosts for Saturday's evening meal followed by more rehearsals and later some entertainment with contributions from Spain and Ireland.

On Sunday the large combined string orchestra headed to picturesque Carlingford and after lunch in Carlingford FOUR SEASONS hotel and settled down to final rehearsal including  the choir who are from Carlingford.

Carlingford is so picturesque with a backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne sweeping down to the sea. No better place for a concert to support the vital services of the RNLI Lifeboat Institution.

The concert and weekend spent together was a fantistic social and musical success, and will be part of a continuing musical friendship.

¡Hasta la próxima!
