Performance at Farmleigh, May
Another busy year with the first production of the Musical Society, a performance at the Eucharistic Congress, and incredible Mahler experience at the school and much more.
Wednesday January 25th -
Three groups of players (21) started lessons with Nicole Hudson after school on Wednesday afternoons as part of the new Piano/Keyboard programme, another initiative of St Agnes Community Music Centre.
Saturday February 4th -
A group of players from St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra attended the 8 pm concert of the 2012 IAYO Festival escorted by Joanna Crooks, Pauline Cavanagh and Sister Bernadette Sweeney. The School Orchestra received an IAYO Youth Orchestra Achievement Award for Development, for the 2011 summer camp project which integrated adult and school players. A highlight of the summer camp was a lunch time concert in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin.
Sunday February 26th -
The concert on Sunday February 26th was conducted by Eimear O'Grady and Terence Clancy. Admission was free but the proceeds went to Pieta House. Joan Freeman, CEO of Pieta House, was there to address the audience briefly.
Mahler at St Agnes
On Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th the Royal Irish Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Cavanagh rehearsed throughout the day in the School Hall at St Agnes, prior to their performance of Mahler's 2nd Symphony, "The Resurrection Symphony" on Monday 5th in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.
On Wednesday 7th March at 6:30 pm a large group photograph was taken by Photocall Ireland of players in St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra and St Agnes' Parents String Orchestra. The photograph will be used for all general PR purposes and in particular for the website and programme of the International Eucharistic Congress. First production by St Agnes Musical Society, "Oklahoma!" directed by Eimear O'Grady. There were four performances on Saturday March 24th and Sunday march 25th at 3 pm and 7:30 pm, which played to full houses. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the show, and the theatre cafe!
Thursday April 19th, Members of St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra and St Agnes' Parents String Orchestra performed at the opening of the NEWB conference in Croke Park Conference Centre (National Education Welfare Board). Attendance included the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald. Photographs appeared on front cover of METRO, and in THE IRISH TIMES of Friday 20th April

Monday June 4th (Bank Holiday) Women's Mini Marathon
A record number of runners (including Jackie Byrne in a clown costume!) took part in the 2012 Flora Women's Mini Marathon raising funds for St Agnes School Violin & Orchestra Project. Read more>>
Friday June 15th, concert 7 pm, Members of St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra and St Agnes' Parents String Orchestra gave a concert in St Agnes' School Hall -
RIAM Orchestra Exam
St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra got a DISTINCTION 94% in the Royal Irish Academy of Music Primary School Orchestra examination. Following the orchestra exam, some students, including secondary school pupils took individual Grade exams, Grades 3 to 5, in violin, viola and cello. All received Honours and there were three Distinctions.

For the first time, every child in St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra took an inhouse examination, covering scales, pieces, aural tests, sightreading and theory questions. The results were very satisfying after a lot of hard work. Thank you to the examiners, Romey Doyle and Eimear O'Grady. Certificates were presented in St Agnes on Thursday 21st June and in Scoil Colm on Wednesday 27th June.
CAR BOOT SALE
Sunday June 24th, 9-
Members of St Agnes Musical Society organised the Car Boot Sale to raise funds for the 2013 production of "The King and I". Car boot sales continue monthly from September 2012 to keep funds coming in.
2012 summer camp Fri June 29th -
Members of St Agnes/Scoil Primary School Orchestra, St Agnes Parents' String Orchestra and past pupils in secondary school took part in the 2012 summer camp, which concluded with a wonderful concert in Christ Church Cathedral conducted by Erich Ruprecht on 5th July, and a chamber music concert on Friday 6th July.
Friday July 27th, Project String Power, Texas
Project String Power from East Texas, USA, who were touring in Ireland, visited St Agnes on Friday 27th July for a social evening, which was an enormous success. This is a similar group to St Agnes Music Crumlin, based in Panola County, Texas. The American visitors got a great Crumlin welcome.
Saturday September 15th, CEILÍ NIGHT
A family CEILÍ NIGHT to raise funds for St Agnes Violin & Orchestra Project took place as an experiment on Saturday 15th September. CEILÍ nights will be held once a term from this point, with the next CEILÍ night on Saturday October 20th. A big feature of the CEILÍ night is the Cafe for refreshments. Once set up, the cafe was all ready for the Car Sale next morning on Sunday 16th September.
Monday October 22nd, Launch of National Fire Safety Week
St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra and St Agnes' Parents String Orchestra perform for the launch of National Fire Safety Week in the school. Attendance by the Lord Mayor of Dublin.

CHRISTMAS MARKET The Christmas Market on Saturday 1st December 2012 raised just over €5,000 thanks to all the volunteers who put in so much effort. Enjoy the photo gallery here of a fantastic market. The Market was opened by Miriam O'Callaghan who was presented with a cheque for €533 raised with the raffle at the NAVAN concert on November 18th in aid of the HOPE FOUNDATION VIOLIN PROJECT in Kolkata, India, where Eimear O'Grady has been out with Larissa O'Grady teaching children and training teachers.

Fifteen members of St Agnes/Scoil Colm Primary School Orchestra from 5th and 6th class performed at a concert in THE ARK, Temple Bar, directed by Pauline Cavanagh. Other performers came from Kylemore College of Music and a guitar school called THE BASE.
Tuesday December 18th. Girls from St Agnes 3rd class gave three performances of THE CHRISTMAS STORY in words and music, at 11 am in the School Hall for parents and classes from 2nd to 6th, then at 2 pm in Caritas Nursing Home, Blackrock, and at 3:15 pm in the School for the Blind, Merrion.
